After caring for and losing two loved ones, it wasn’t just my emotions that were cluttered. My house was an absolute wreck and full of other people’s stuff. Everywhere I looked all I could see were boxes and piles of stuff that had belonged to relatives. Try as I might, I couldn’t make a dent in these piles. Blending Homes

I am so grateful to Deirdre for helping me to take on the enormous project of blending the contents of two very large homes after a late-in-life marriage.  One year ago, my husband’s belongings were moved into a storage facility with the idea that we would work to unpack it little by little. No such thing happened. We were both working full time, and yet even when we did have free time, the task was too daunting to even think about starting.  After eight months, I knew I would need help to take on the project and was lucky enough to find out about Deirdre. Deirdre spoke to me on the phone about what she could do to help and then we met in person to map out how we would approach the job.  We scheduled for a few months out when I would become more available.

We worked together for three days and were able to process the many boxes and furniture pieces from two very large storage units.  The pace of work was quick.  Deirdre and her team are master sorters.  If you are able to make decisions easily, the process goes quickly.  With Deirdre and her team here to assist, I was energized to do the work that needed to be done.  When they weren’t here, I lacked motivation.  They were the spark behind the effort. When the work was psychologically draining, they kept it fun and light.

In this day and age we tend to collect too many things.  Unless we have the time and focus to sort as we go along, we all need help periodically with cleaning out.  I highly recommend DeClutter by Deirdre to guide you as you take on the task of decluttering your life.  I’m glad I did!

Very Happily DeCluttered

I highly recommend DeClutter by Deirdre. I have used her services twice over the past few years – once for my clothing in two full closets and once for my basement storage area that had been holding some items for nearly 25 years (!).
With each declutter project, I finished feeling like I had a whole new beginning and outlook. The process energized me to make other changes in my life and enabled me to really look at my life, my possessions and my activities. It was as if holding onto things was holding me back in other areas of my life; completing the declutter process just opened up a whole new horizon.
What I really appreciated were the organizational skills and patience Deirdre had. We sat and discussed the plan beforehand and this was very important to me. Deirdre asked about my goal(s) and we came up with a game plan together, one that I was comfortable with. I had a lot of anxiety and had put off this most recent decluttering project for a long time. The anxiety related to how difficult it is for me to let go of things. Some items I was holding onto because they were family pieces (there were many!), others because they brought memories back of my past/I once really enjoyed them and others I thought I might use again someday (how many air mattresses do I really need?!) and some items I thought ‘maybe my son might want that for his place’ (after he already said ‘no’ and ‘no thank you’ and ‘no, I don’t want that’!).
On my own, I had so many items I just wasn’t sure what to do with! Should I give away or trash or keep and how should I organize my space after decluttering? Without Deirdre, I would stare at something or just not even make a decision and simply hang on to things. With Deirdre, I was able to make decisions – she would ask me questions and I would know what to do. This was important to me because I didn’t want someone telling me what to do or how to do it but rather, teaching me and enabling me to make the decision.

I cannot say enough about how professional, efficient and caring Deirdre and her staff perform. I hired Deirdre to assist in cleaning out my husband’s 92 year old cousin’s home after she decided to move to an assisted living facility.

Deirdre and her staff cleaned, sorted and organized the donation of possessions for a home that greatly needed all of the above. The home needed a good cleaning, there was three floors (this includes the attic) of furniture, personal possessions, books, files and electronics. They cared enough to not just throw away items that looked like they could be family heirlooms or sentimental. They also were so honest they put in separate containers loose coins, jewelry, keys and other items that they could have just walked away with or thrown out.

Deirdre herself kept me informed of their schedule and their progress. When the work was completed she also made an additional trip to make sure the house was in good order.

After we brought Mom back to NJ to be with us two years ago, we fully expected to return within months to tend to the apartment and bring back important items. Well, we had our hands full. Between jobs, family responsibilities and seeing Mom as often as possible, the months flew by. As you know, we never did find time to go back to Florida. When it became clear that we were going to have to sell Mom’s place, we were totally overwhelmed when we realized the job we faced. Finding the time to fly to Florida, sort through the contents of the apartment, arrange for donations and shipment of furniture and personal belongings up north, was a huge job that we didn’t have the time or the energy to do. There I was surrounded by over fifty years of memorabilia and clothing and jewelry and sundry items—and enough angels and religious articles to start your own church. Then, I met you and DeClutter By Deirdre.
What a load off my mind (and my back) to have you figuring out what to do with all that stuff.
